Oskahtak Updates:
[June 14] Marshes are full and probably not suitable as route choices. Many trails very overgrown. Lots of mosquitoes – bring insect repellant.
The same courses both days. If you come both days you will not have to pay for the second day, but you will have to sign another waiver. You can use the second day to do the same course again (e.g. improving your technique, or using different routes or without a compass), try a different course or plan your own training session.
Course 1/2 (beginner/novice) – 3.0km controls on trails progressing to controls close to trails and other handrails, such as a fence or edge of trees. Some sections flagged with orange ribbons.
Course 3 (intermediate) – 3.4km controls across country on larger features
Advanced courses: (technically difficult) 4.7km and 6.3km
GPS coordinates provided by the organizer: N53 deg. 54.750 W112 deg. 59.285 – but note that the last few kilometres are on gravel roads. There will be orienteering signs from the Victoria Trail turn-off. Location map
