Volunteers are needed for various jobs for the Alberta Championships
at the Waskehegan Staging Area of the Cooking Lake/Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area,
Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29.

This list includes positions for non-orienteers as well as some for participants:
Shuttle drivers:
– 3 to 4 hour shifts, using your own minivan/large SUV, driving to the BBQ area and back again (10km round trip, about 30 minutes) with passengers and/or bags on gravel roads within the park (where there’s no public access) during the following hours:
– Saturday during the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm
– Sunday 9:00am – 3:00pm
Mileage will be paid.
First Aider with suitable qualifications for Saturday 10am – (about) 4pm
First Aider with suitable qualifications for Sunday 10am – 3pm
Site set up (such as putting up tents) Thursday daytime and/or Friday daytime.
Start monitors (1 or 2 volunteers for each event) to collect names of people starting and ensure there is sufficient time between competitors. NO orienteering skill required, or could be a competitor willing to start last.
– Saturday Sprint 10:00am – 11:30am
– Saturday – Middle 1:00pm – 2:30pm
– Sunday – Long 9:30am – 11:15am
Timing help: 1 or 2 computer/Windows savvy volunteers to help with data entry at the beginning of each event and with download at the end.
Refreshments – a volunteer for Sunday to look after refreshments (perhaps purchase them too – reimbursed)
Registrar’s assistant – at the shelter by the parking lot
Saturday 9:00 – 11:00 and/or
Saturday 12:30 – 2:00pm and/or
Sunday 9:00 – 10:30am
Control pick-up Sunday from 2:00pm, orienteering skills needed
Site take down Sunday from 2:00pm to take down tents etc. NO orienteering skills needed!
