Edmonton area Weather Forecast
This will be a low-key event with good courses with SPORTident timing, but with a punching start and no pre-assigned start times.
There will be appropriate courses for competitive age-based categories for men and women, from 10-and-under to 90 plus.
There will be a couple of Open categories for individuals who want to try an advanced course without going in their age category.
On-the-day registration will be available, but with higher prices for both age-based and open categories. No change to recreational course prices.
Pairs/groups may enter only on the recreational courses.

Age-based courses (individuals only):
Men’s and women’s courses for: 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 13/14, 15/16, 17/18, 19/20, 21+, 35+, 45+, 55+, 65+, 75+, 80+, 85+, 90+.
Age is how old you will be on December 31, 2018.
Open courses (individuals only):
There will be a short advanced open course and a longer open course at each event. No medals awarded for these courses.
Recreational courses:
Beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate courses will be available on-the-day for recreational orienteers at discounted fees.
Pairs/groups may enter only on the recreational courses.
SPRINT
Friday September 14 at Mill Woods Park (7207 28 Avenue), City of Edmonton.
Mapped by Meghan Rance 2014, to ISSOM, 1:4,000, 2m contours

Please park North of J. Percy Page High School.
IMPORTANT:
19:00: check in/register (pay and/or sign waiver)
19:30 – 20:00 starts
Recommended winning time : 15 minutes
Time limit: 45 minutes (but no later than 20:45)
Awards on-site, as early as possible.

MIDDLE DISTANCE
Saturday September 15 at Redwater Natural Area.
Details: 1:7,500 2.5m contours, (mapper Bryan Chubb, 2016) with some recent updates
Terrain: (sandhills with pine forest and some deadfall). Deer, moose and (very rarely) black bears are found in this part of Alberta.
Location map and driving directions
Park on the west side of the road in consideration of people who live at the end of the road.
12:00 – 13:00 check in/register (pay and/or sign waiver)
13:00 – 14:00 starts
Time limit: 2 hours (but no later than 16:00)

LONG DISTANCE
Sunday September 16: at Redwater Natural Area, southeast of Redwater
Map: 1:10,000, 2.5m contours, (mapper Bryan Chubb, 2016) with some recent updates.
Terrain: similar to that of the Middle distance, above.
Location map and driving directions
Parking: 2.7 km N on RR205 off Victoria Trail, and 0.5 km either side of that. Please use west side of road (park well off) and don’t block quad trails.
10:30: check-in/register (pay and/or sign waiver)
11:00 – 12:00 starts
Time limit 3 hours (but no later than 15:00)

Age-based and Open categories:
All three events: adults $50, solo juniors FREE
Sprint: adults $15, solo juniors FREE
Middle (including BBQ): adults $20, solo juniors FREE
Long: adults $20, solo juniors FREE
Recreational courses: $10 per individual/pair/family, each event, including SPORTident timing card and compass & whistle if you don’t have your own (driver’s licence required as deposit). $5 for an additional map for pair/family going out together.
